Nu Vela offers chemical peels using the finest medical-grade products to gently remove the damaged outer layers of skin. The peel is administered as a peel using an acid solution to promote new growth and expose the brighter, healthier layer of skin. It is an effective treatment for facial blemishes, wrinkles and uneven skin pigmentation.

Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids are the mildest peel formulas and produce light peels. A series of mild peels is recommended for those seeking a more gentle, gradual result. Stronger chemical peels may be recommended for more severe conditions.

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) can be used in various concentrations, but is most commonly used for medium-depth peeling. Fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problems are commonly treated with TCA.

After an AHA peel, temporary flaking or scaling, redness and dryness of the skin may occur but quickly disappear as the skin adjusts to the treatment. Dr. Dishakjian may recommend mild pain medication after a TCA peel to relieve any tingling or throbbing. After a TCA peel, the skin may form a crust or scab over the treated area. To aid in proper healing, it is important to follow the doctor's specific post-procedure instructions.
