Lipodissolve Fat Reduction - An Alternative to Liposuction

When diet and exercise are not enough, many people seek clinical options to help them regain the body they desire. Among the many available body contouring options, lipotherapy with lipodissolve injections and fat transfer or fat grafting are increasingly becoming popular because they are typically performed in a doctor's office, require little downtime, and yield excellent results.

Body Contouring with Lipotherapy or Lipodissolve Injections

Lipotherapy, often touted as a non-surgical alternative to liposuction, or referred to as injection lipolysis, is a minimally invasive body contouring procedure, which unlike liposuction, requires no general anesthesia and has no significant down time. It involves injecting a mixture of fat-dissolving medications, commonly known as Lipodissolve, into the subcutaneous fatty tissue with the aim of giving you a more contoured, toned appearance. LipoZap, Lipo-Dissolve, and Lipomelt are other lipotherapy products that contain the same chemicals as Lipodissolve; namely, Phosphatidylcholine and Sodium Deoxycholate, sometimes in addition to few other ingredients.

It should be noted that Lipotherapy addresses the uneven distribution of fat rather than overall obesity. The desired end result is precise body contouring in localized areas and therefore should not to be considered a substitute for diet and exercise for weight loss. To be eligible for body contouring with lipodissolve injections, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or less. If your BMI is higher, the results of the lipotherapy will not be sufficient to produce the desired visual results. The best candidates for lipotherapy are normal-weight people with firm, elastic skin, who have pockets of excess fat in certain areas. Patients with diabetes, HIV, kidney disease, severe hypertension, cardiac problems, hemophilia, on blood thinning medications, or with unrealistic expectations are all unsuitable for the procedure.

The areas that respond the most to lipodissolve injections include thighs, love handles, upper arms, abdomen, bra line, saddlebags, jowls, and under the chin. Conditions such as male gynecomastia, lipomas, surgical deformities and uneven contour from liposuction can also be treated. Patients often experience dramatic results after only a few treatments.

During lipotherapy, your doctor injects a cocktail of naturally occurring substance; namely, Phosphatidylcholine, Sodium Deoxycholate, salt (present in Lipodissolve), and a numbing substance (lidocaine) into the fat layers and connective tissue. The injections, which are spaced less than an inch apart, are relatively painless. Common side effects with lipodissolve injections are a burning or stinging sensation that frequently lasts for up to an hour after the injections. Some patients will notice bruising or discoloration that fades with time. All patients experience mild to significant swelling and redness in the treated area. This in normal and expected. The majority of the swelling will subside after 2 days. Typically, benefits are seen within three weeks of the treatment. Several treatments, four to six weeks apart, are often required to produce the desired results. A temporary side effect beyond the edema are nodules that form under the skin of some patients. The nodules may range from pea to marble sized. They are invisible on the skin's surface, but can be felt upon touching. The nodules disappear on their own within six months after the treatment. We at Nu Vela, have found that more than 90% of our patients are very pleased with the result they observe after 3 to 5 treatments.

Fat Transfer

Fat Transfer also called fat grafting uses the patient's own fat as a filler for contouring facial features and other areas of the body that have sagged from weight loss, trauma or normal agents. There is no risk of allergic reaction because the fat is from the patient's own body. The procedure is done with a mild, local anesthesia and takes excess fat cells from areas such as the buttocks, abdomen or love handles. It is reinjected into the area where contouring is desired.
